What is the value of x − y?
(1) x + y = 3y − x
(2) x + y = x3 + y3
(A) | if statement (1) ALONE is sufficient to answer the question but statement (2) alone is not sufficient; |
(B) | ... |
(C) | ... |
(D) | ... |
(E) | ... |

I don't understand why A is correct

A H, have you followed the explanation?

x+y=3y-x transformed as x+y-3y+x=0 then we can get 2(x-y)=0 so x-y=0. A is correct.

When u got the statement(1) is right, u can eliminate BCE, then it's easy to figure out the answer.

I don't know why (2) is wrong what if x=-1,y=-1

Zoe Chen, there are different pairs of numbers which satisfy (2) yet yield different values for x − y

Even D could have been an option, as we can create (x-y)3⃣
