I can't seem to get the answer I'm having basic algebra blank. how do you get 125 from C+10/.9=1.2c?

Hi Jennifer,
There must be parentheses around the C + 10:
(C + 10)/.9 = 1.2C
Multiplying both sides of this equation by .9 gives
C + 10 = 1.08C (since .9 x 1.2 = 10.8)
Subtracting C from both sides gives
10 = .08C (since 1.08C - 1C = (1.08 - 1)C = .08C)
Finally, dividing both sides by .08 gives
10/.08 = .08C/.08
or
125 = C
