once Greed is shown, then which one of the following is

during the festival?
*This question is included in LG Sample 2: Moderate Game, question #3

The fesitval is 3 days long, therefore limelight can be shown a maximum of 3 times. The passage says each film can be shown no more than once each day

You may have misread the question stem. They're not asking how many times Limelight can be shown. They're asking you to determine the maximum number of movies that can be shown in total, given the restriction "once G is shown, L cannot be".

How to solve this problem:
This question requires a little experimentation.
First, let's make sure we understand what we're being asked, because the question stem is long and confusing.
We're asked to determine the maximum number of films that can be shown IN TOTAL, given the restriction "once G is shown, L cannot be".
So we're trying to create a scenario where the maximum number of movies is shown over the course of the three days. Seems like we've got two options:
1. We can show L, G and H on Thursday, and then try to show G and H on both Friday and Saturday. This will max out the number of G's we have.
2. We can also try to max out the number of L's, and only show G on the final day.
Let's test option 1:
Thursday: L, G, H
Friday: H, G
Saturday: G
Okay, so option 1 gives us six movies total. So we know that our choices are narrowed down to "D" and "E". Note that we weren't able to show both G and H on Saturday due to Rule 3.
Let's test option 2:
Thursday: L, H
Friday: H, L
Saturday: L, G
Again, we can have at most six movies shown. So "D" is the correct answer. If we try to show any more than six, we end up violating a Rule.

Why does this not work ?
Thursday: L,G,H
Friday: H, L
Saturday: H, G
Thursday: L,G,H
Friday: H, L
Saturday: H, G

Dillon, on Friday, you violate the condition "Limelight is never shown again during the festival once Greed is shown".

Referring to your option 2 answer, what rule is preventing G, L, and H from being played on Thursday?

If you have G on Thursday, you can't have L again.
So, if you have:
Thursday: L, G, H
You CAN'T have:
Friday: H, L
Saturday: L, G
So, if you have:
Thursday: L, G, H
You CAN'T have:
Friday: H, L
Saturday: L, G

Yes, I'm still confused. On Saturday, why can't L be shown before G. This will not break any rules right?

Jasmine, sorry for the really late reply, but hopefully this answer will help other students. "Limelight is never shown again during the festival once Greed is shown".
