Could you please explain to me why you put (-1000-(-2)) inside |.....| ?????

Hi Mohamed,
The number of elements in a set is always a non-negative number (zero or positive).
The expression (–10)^3 – (–2) is negative (-988), so we encased it in absolute value symbols to make it positive.
