The angle X in the diagram is outside the triangle, why did we assume it's inside

Sudad, the question is tricky. The angle inside the triangle is also x. Think this way: the angle next to x must be 180-x, since it is a straight line, right? Then the angle opposite x must be 180 - (180-x) =x.
