Due to a problem in the transcription machinery of a cell, an mRNA transcript does not have a poly A tail attached. This would probably result in:

Would it not be "faster degradation" since the purpose of the tail and cap is to stop or slow degradation?

Tony, actually you are right in certain types of cells. But, eg, in bacteria cells the poly A promotes degradation. That's why the question asks "probably". The most important thing is that we identified that poly A has something to do with degradation.
