Why wouldn't distinctive be the opposite?

Thad, I agree with you that it could be a choice. The opposite of "various" or "many" can either be "nothing" or "unique". If the latter, then distinctive is a good choice. You don't have to worry in the real GRE because the test now does not include vocabulary. The practice sets are kept in the app because they are useful as a vocabulary expander.
