Could someone explain why statement 1 ALONE is not sufficient to answer the question? I think it is. P= 1 or 4. So (3+2p)/3p= 5/3 or 11/12.
Although there are two answers, they are all the value of (3+2p)/3p.

Xiao Meng, I think they are looking for just one answer. I admit this practice question is not very well worded.

Xiao Meng, I think this question is not right. In the real GMAT, the solutions of the two statements won't contradict each other. I will contact the author and let him know.

This would never be on the GMAT. DS answers cannot contradict each other.

We just got the correction from the publisher:
What is the value of (3 + 2p) / 3p?
