A walk-thru of Q4.

I just took a quick look at this, and before doing any work on it I thought if it makes a trip to G in week 1, wouldn't the answer be it goes to Jamaica (j) in week 2? Since the rule is Freedom will make a stop in G any week preceding a trip to J?

Eric, do you need approval on your guesses? If you first try to solve the (complete) problem then at least you know what you did ;)

I thought g had to in-between m and m? Wouldn't that make a trip to g in week 1 impossible?

m must go exactly twice right? No more no less

Here is the answer that Niels was trying to post

Guadeloupe = G
Jamaica = J
Martinique = M
Trinidad = T

General rules:
1. J not 4
2. T = 7
3. M < G < M
4. If J then also G in time G < J
5. not A < A

Question rules:
6. G = 1
7. J = 5

We start with the seven weeks, without any rule applied
? < ? < ? < ? < ? < ? < ?
Now apply rule 2
? < ? < ? < ? < ? < ? < T
Apply rule 6
G < ? < ? < ? < ? < ? < T
Apply rule 7
G < ? < ? < ? < J < ? < T
Apply rule 4
G < ? < ? < G < J < ? < T
Apply rule 3
G < M < ? < G < J < M < T or G < ? < M < G < J < M < T

Now we have to fill out the third one for G < M < ? < G < J < M < T
If we take G then rule 5 cannot be obeyed
If we take J then we also must use G and we only have one spot to offer
If we take M then rule 5 cannot be obeyed
If we take T then we're ok :)
G < M < T < G < J < M < T

Now we have to fill out the second one for G < ? < M < G < J < M < T
If we take G then rule 5 cannot be obeyed
If we take J then we also must use G and we only have one spot to offer
If we take M then rule 5 cannot be obeyed
If we take T then we're ok :)
G < T < M < G < J < M < T

So either G < M < ? < G < J < M < T or G < ? < M < G < J < M < T will turn out to get ? = T and are both still possible with all rules applied.

To answer the question we look at G < M < T < G < J < M < T and G < T < M < G < J < M < T
Answer B: Freedom makes a voyage to Trinidad in week 2, seems about right but is only a valid statement on G < T < M < G < J < M < T
While answer E: Freedom makes a voyage to Martinique in week 6, is true for both sequences and as the question states 'must be true' whatever order taken.
