I don't understand how "a ø b = b ø a" means that "1 ø a / 1 ø b" = "1 / 1". I know "1 ø a = 1", but how does that mean "1 ø b = 1"?

Miranda, given that 1 ø a = 1, we can substitute any number or variable into a. This means that 1 ø x =1; 1 ø 1000 =1; and yes, 1 ø b =1.
