Because in order for the auxotroph to be radioactively labeled according to strain 2 (phosphorus) the only correct choice could be RNA due to the fact that this is the only molecule that contains a phosphate group! Remember that RNA is composed of a 5 carbon chain, a nitrogenous base and a PHOSPHATE group!!!

Stands for ribonucleic acid. Contains long chains of nucleotides. Nucleotides contain a nitrogenous base, a ribose sugar and a phosphate. RNA molecules are involved in protein synthesis.
