I've read the solution and still don't understand how to figure this out at all. Please advise.

David, say you start with 2. That's the first term. Then you add 4, 2+4=6, that's the 2nd term, or 4*1 + 2. 3rd term = 6+4 = 10 or 4*2 +2. 4th term = 10 + 4 = 14, or 4*3 +2. That means the 201th term = 4*200 +2 = 802.
