Not really getting the step (2^2)*x^2 = |2x|^2... Can anyone explain?

Oliver, that's from the property a^2 * b^2 = (ab)^2

I solved this question by factoring out the 2, ie 2(4x^2-9) and stopped there.
Then I foil multiplied out each possible answer until I found that answer b worked.
