I don't see the (a+1) + 1 = a+2.?

I got the answer, but by using 2 sets of numbers and calculating...

Dusty, not quite sure what your question was.

a, b, c are consecutive integers, therefore b = a+1; and c=b+1 = (a+1)+1 = a + 2.

If you used 2 sets of numbers and used substitution, that was a good way to solve this problem too.

If you let a= -1 and b= -2 and c= 3, then doesn't a+b/2 = -1 and not b?
