Sam, if the line l is parallel to k, we know that the angle y is equal to the angle 2y-75. So we set y = 2y - 75, giving us y = 75.

How can
y=2y-75

Shouldn't y = 2x-75 or another variable other than y? Logically it doesn't make sense.

Sorry for the multiple posts of the same Q, my cell phone farted.

Hi Sam. Well one angle is y, and the other is 2y-75, not 2x-75. So we set them equal to each other, and solve for y. If it contained another variable, we won't be able to solve for y.
