If sanctimonious means righteous, then truly, it's opposite is sinister which is evil.

Tiara, as I read it, 'sanctimonious' is used to ridicule someone, 'there he goes, the self proclaimed holyman.' Which in turn does not make it the opposite of 'sinister.'
