A massless spring with spring constant k is connected on one end to a wall and on the other end to a massless plate. A mass m is sitting on a frictionless floor. The mass m is slid against the plate and pushed back a distance x. After its release, it reaches a maximum speed v1. In a second experiment, a larger mass 9m is pushed back the same distance x. After its release, it reaches a maximum speed v2. How does the final kinetic energy E1 of the first mass compare with the final kinetic energy E2 of the second mass?
(A) E1 = E2/3
(B) ...
(C) ...
(D) ...
(E) ...
