I don't see why D doesn't work. The explanation says that the introduction rambles on, but answer choice d is the same as answer choice b, just in another order.

I agree with you. Why should choice B be correct if D sounds much better? Plus, why does it say that choice D is too long as an intro?

Jennifer, I agree with you (and disagree with the author of the question). Answer choices B and D should be both correct.
