I'm not sure I understand. If the line OP equals 6 how would the y coordinate for P be 6?

Hi Kathleen,

The y-coordinate of point P is not 6. It is less than 6 because it is a leg of a right triangle with hypothenuse of 6. The graphic below makes this a little clearer.
